Joy Blackwell-Patrick is a clinical instructor and lecturer for the School of Nursing. She has more than 12 years of clinical experience in medical/surgical and critical care units, including Trauma Intensive Care Units, radiology/special procedures, cardiac catheter labs and outpatient surgical centers. She has also served as a charge nurse and preceptor, and been part of clinical resource personnel. A master's prepared nurse educator, Blackwell-Patrick uses diverse teaching strategies to engage her students and demonstrate professional nursing behavior and clinical assessments. Her research interests include acute alcohol withdrawal, simulation and cultural competence education.
