John M. Wagner, MPA
John Wagner was born into a tumultuous environment. Intermittently homeless as a child with his single mother, he developed a strong desire to rise above his situation and prove himself. He succeeded. After graduating high school with honors, he became the first in his family to go to college.
Following college graduation, Wagner began working as an environmental specialist at the Southern Nevada Health District while attending night school and volunteering his time to direct the Nonprofit Nevada Environmental Health Association as its president. Wagner now holds a graduate certificate in public management and a master's degree in public administration from UNLV.
Today, he serves as the director of community relations at the UNLV Nonprofit, Community and Leadership Initiative. Tirelessly, he dedicates himself to the Initiative’s goals of building capacity, developing Leadership and fostering community in the nonprofit and public sectors. Wagner is finishing his third year of Ph.D. studies in public affairs.
