University Forum: Evolution of the Xylophone and Marimba

Join the College of Liberal Arts in the University Forum Lecture, "Evolution of the Xylophone and Marimba Band in the United States" a talk by Timothy Jones, assistant professor, Percussion Studies, UNLV.
As we look at the history of the xylophone we will learn of the significant pairing to the westernized marimba that is renowned today for its beautiful resonance and adaptability to many musical situations. There will be some lively music through: rare footage, lecture presentation and live performance examples by the Ragtime Rebels.
