Office/Remote Location: Clark County Library - Performing Arts Center Theatre
Join the College of Liberal Arts in the University Forum Lecture, "Pouring Tea: Black Gay Men of the South Tell Their Tales" a performance by E. Patrick Johnson, Carlos Montezuma Professor of Performance Studies and African American Studies, Northwestern University.
In his one-man show, Professor Johnson examines the question of what it means to be a black person whose racial identity is called into question because of his sexuality, class, gender and religion. The performed oral histories come from his book "Sweet Tea: Black Men of the South." All the men embodied in this performance were born, reared, and continue to live in the U.S. South, and range in age from 19 to 93. The audience can expect to be both challenged and entertained.
