UNLV CHORAL ENSEMBLES FALL CONCERT
"IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE"

Over 100 singers raise their voices to celebrate the opening concert of the UNLV Choral Ensembles 2013-2014 season. The Concert Singers, Chamber Chorale, Women's Chorus and Varsity Men's Glee Club sing a wide variety of uplifting repertoire, including works by Mozart, Brahms, René Clausen, Pablo Casals, David Dickau and Eric Whitacre.

"MADFEST 29"

The 29th Annual Madrigal & Chamber Choir Festival features the UNLV Chamber Chorale and outstanding high school choirs from the Clark County School District. After each choir performs, the audience is invited to ask questions and make comments. Two sessions are free and open to the public, 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.

UNLV-ACDA WESTERN DIVISION STUDENT SYMPOSIUM CONCERT

Outstanding choirs from throughout the western states present this free concert, which is a part of the Nov. 8-9 Student Symposium conference sponsored by UNLV's student chapter of the American Choral Director's Association. For a complete conference schedule, please contact the Choral Studies office.

UNLV WOMEN'S CHORUS & VARSITY MEN'S GLEE CLUB

The UNLV Women's Chorus and Varsity Men's Glee Club present a wonderful evening of choral music encompassing serious works and popular favorites. The concert commemorates the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination with "What Kind of Peace?" by William G. Harbinson, and the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass) with Michael Horvit's setting of "Even When God Is Silent." Other inspirational works include Orban's "Gloria" from Mass #6, "Irish Blessing" by Langager, and "Tshotsholoza," a South African freedom song. Musical theatre highlights include "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera and a medley from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

MASTERWORKS CONCERT: MOZART REQUIEM

The UNLV Concert Singers, Chamber Chorale and soloists join forces with the University Symphony to present the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the composer's final work which remained unfinished at the time of his death. The University Symphony also performs Mozart's Symphony #38 in D Major (the "Prague Symphony").

UNLV CHAMBER CHORALE HOME CONCERT

Noted for their "joyous singing, impressive performance and expressive fervor," the Chamber Chorale returns from their annual spring tour to present concert gems by Orlando di Lasso, Claudio Monteverdi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Anton Bruckner, Johannes Brahms, Gioacchino Rossini, Frank Martin, Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre. Encores include folk songs, spirituals and music from the Great American Song Book.

26th Annual UNLV-CCSD ELEMENTARY CHORAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
