Posted: May 8, 2013

Road Closures and Repair May 8th through May 27th There will be four major road repair projects beginning this Wednesday, May 8, 2013 through Monday, May 27, 2013.  These project are listed below with their individual schedules and impacts.  In each case the asphalt will be removed and replaced and will not be available for use.  These projects will not interfere with graduation exercises scheduled at the Thomas and Mack Center later in the month. Thomas and Mack Entrance Road The Thomas and Mack entrance road will close on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 and reopen on Tuesday, May 13, 2013.  This closure will prevent access to the circle in front of the Thomas and Mack for ticket purchases.  Individuals wishing to park for this purpose can be directed to use the staff parking west of the Center and east Tarkanian Way during this project.  Access across the roadway between the Black and White lots will also not be possible.  It is suggested that any individuals wanting to reach the opposite lot should use the access road behind the Thomas and Mack Center between the Student Services Complex and Tarkanian Way (See link below). http://goo.gl/maps/nxqbO Campus Services Complex (CSB) Drive This project affects the drive located in front of CSB between Tarkanian Way and Swenson.  The drive will close on Friday, May 10, 2013 and will reopen on Thursday, May 16, 2013.  The project will prevent direct access between the White and Naples Lots, located south and north of CSB respectively.  The internal drive between Tarkanian Way and Naples will be opened at Tarkanian Way to allow individuals wanting to go from the north side to the south side of the building.  This can be accomplished by using Tarkanian Way from the Naples Lot to the southeast entry of the White Lot.  Access to Swenson from the White Lot will also be closed at the exit west of CSB.  Individuals wanting to access Swenson will need to do so by way of Tarkanian Way and Harmon Avenue.  The ADA accessible parking located directly in front of the building will not be available, however, there will be temporary stalls located by the east side entrance of the building.  Staff going to CSB should not park in the White Lot directly in front of, or west of CSB, as access will be hindered by the construction.  Staff should park in the spaces available on the east side of the building during the course of this project (see link for route below) http://goo.gl/maps/ElqTb Mall Road East of the Cottage Grove Garage This is the smallest of the four projects and will have limited impact.  Two sections of asphalt will be removed and replaced on the mall road east of the Cottage Grove Garage.  This will begin on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 and reopen on Thursday, May 16, 2013.  The east lane of the mall road will be two-way traffic during this time.  No major inconveniences are caused by this project. Wilbur Entry Drive The Wilbur Entry from Tropicana will close on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 and will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.  This project also includes the closure of the Tropicana exit from the White Lot.  During this time there will not be any access to Tropicana from the campus.  Individuals needing to reach Tropicana from the west side of campus will need to use Flamingo Road or Cottage Grove going east to Maryland and then south to Tropicana (see link below). http://goo.gl/maps/fJOms The Resident Lot east of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will also not be accessible from the west side of campus.  The access drive from this lot to Brussels Avenue will be open during the duration of the project. This email will be redistributed over the course of the month with any updates that are available.  Construction times can vary due to early or late completions, so any adjustments to the schedules above will be sent out as soon as possible.
