Provost invites speakers for "UNLV Creates" event for new students

Posted: June 27, 2013

The Provost's office is proud to announce the UNLV Creates series, which will be the new academic component of the UNLV Welcome Day event for newly enrolled students.

Faculty and Staff will highlight creativity, inspiration, and discovery to energize new students about the transformative opportunities of a college degree. The event will include an academic convocation in which the university community will welcome the incoming Fall class of 2013. Within the ceremony, they will be asked to make a pledge to graduate from UNLV. This new tradition will signify the beginning of their college career.

We are seeking members of the UNLV community who would be interested in making a presentation at this event which would showcase an important idea, concept, or artistic representation of personal interest to highlight creativity, inspiration, and discovery. Presentations should be relevant and interesting to students and need not focus on one’s own research or creative activity. The purpose is to get students excited about the transformative nature of advanced learning.

We are looking for speakers whose energy would capture the audience and get students excited about big ideas. Presentations should be 6 - 8 minutes in length, any necessary audio-visual equipment or technological support would be provided.
