Posted: February 12, 2013
MEMORANDUM
11 February 2013
To: UNLV Campus Community
From: Carl L. Reiber
Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
Subject: Approved Name Change:
FROM Degree: Master of Education (M.Ed.), Emphasis: Educational Leadership
TO Degree: Master of Education (M.Ed.), Emphasis: Higher Education
______________________________
The NSHE Academic Affairs Council approved the following name change at their December 2012
meeting. This is the final approval.
FROM Degree: Master of Education (M.Ed.), Emphasis: Educational Leadership
TO Degree: Master of Education (M.Ed.), Emphasis: Higher Education
Reorganization of the UNLV College of Education was approved at the June 2011 NSHE Board of
Regents meeting. In that reorganization, the Department of Educational Leadership (and the
programs housed within) was absorbed into other units. The M.Ed., Emphasis: Educational Leadership
program is now in the Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education. A name change to
M.Ed., Emphasis: Higher Education more accurately reflects the program requirements and supports
degree holders seeking higher education positions.
Effective Date: Fall 2012
Please note for lists, databases, and generation of appropriate codes, etc.
For further information, please contact the Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education at (703) 895-3253.
