Professor Nader Ghafoori is the College of Engineering's 2012-2013 Distinguished Researcher

Posted: March 12, 2013

Congratulations are in order for Professor Nader Ghafoori, who has been named the College of Engineering’s Distinguished Researcher for 2012-2013!

An annual award, the Distinguished Researcher is selected after a review by faculty from peer institutions of applicant materials. Consideration is given to productivity in research over the past year – a direct correlation with the award timing – and over the last five years, in order to assess sustainability and growth in research production.

Dr. Ghafoori is an experienced professor of civil engineering who has maintained an impressive research record, despite serving, until recently, as department chair. He is a well-recognized expert in his field, with research interest in Portland cement concrete materials and structures, averaging two journal articles per year. In addition, he has advised an impressive nine graduate students over the last five years and has been involved with organizing several conferences.

The College of Engineering will recognize Dr. Ghafoori at our upcoming Honors Convocation on April 18.
