Position Announcement: Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

The Vice Provost for Academic Affairs invites applications for the position of Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.  This position is a full-time, A-contract appointment.  It is anticipated that the position will be filled by a current UNLV tenured faculty member at the rank of professor with significant administrative experience at or above the level of chair.  A significant understanding of academic affairs is expected with an outstanding record of scholarship required.

The need for this position stems from recognition of the growth and responsibilities of the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs will assist the Vice Provost in managing the division, will assume direct responsibility for major areas under the VPAA, and will act in the Vice Provost's stead when necessary. With the onset of our Tier 1 initiative, it is imperative that this appointment be made as soon as possible.   

The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs assists the Vice Provost in managing a variety of academic issues including accreditation, assessment, faculty and administrator development, new programs, program review, enrollment management, student issues, academic standards, general education, and international programs.
