Nevada Conservatory Theatre Presents Theresa Rebeck’s 'Seminar' Feb. 6 – 9
Posted: January 8, 2014
The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV presents the provocative comedy Seminar by Theresa Rebeck Feb. 6 – 9 in the Judy Bayley Theatre. Michael Lugering directs.
Seminar appeared on Broadway in 2011 with Alan Rickman originating the lead role. In the play, four aspiring young novelists sign-up for private writing classes with Leonard, an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon, and hearts are unmoored.
Lugering is a master teacher of voice, movement and acting at UNLV and has spent more than 15 years researching the physical, psychological, behavioral and aesthetic aspects of human expression. His book THE EXPRESSIVE ACTOR: An Integrated Method of Voice, Movement & Actor Training is published by Heinemann Drama Books. He has served as a professional voice coach for the Utah Shakespearian Festival and the NCT.
The cast includes Equity actor Jeff Williams as Leonard; Jasmine Mathews as Izzy; Jack Lafferty as Martin; Madison Kisst as Kate; and Bernhard C. Verhoeven as Douglas.
The production and design team include scenic designer Shannon Moore, lighting designer Manuel Ramirez, costume designer Elizabeth LaRouche, sound designer and technical director Tom Egan; production stage manager Jade Cagalawan, and properties master Molly Bailey.
Show times are at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6, 7 & 8, with matinees at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 9, in the Judy Bayley Theatre. Tickets are $20-30, and 10 percent off for children 18. For tickets or additional information, visit pac.unlv.edu or call 895-ARTS (2787).
