MyUNLV is scheduled for a system upgrade!

MyUNLV will be unavailable from 12:00 AM on Saturday July 6, 2013 to 6:00 PM Sunday July, 2013 and from 12:00 AM Saturday July 20, 2013 and 6:00 PM Sunday July 21, 2013 for a system upgrade.

The upgrade is part of our regular maintenance cycle and enables the system to work with newly released operating systems, browsers and subsequent software releases.  While the upgrade will not change business functionality of MyUNLV, there will be some minor changes in the look of the system. In addition, there are a couple of things you can do to ensure a smooth transition through the upgrade.

Following the MyUNLV upgrade you should clear your web browser cache before logging in.

Before you log into MyUNLV following the upgrade, it will be very helpful to clear your web browser cache.  Clearing your cache will ensure the upgraded system can work properly in your browser.  For instructions on clearing your cache, please visit the AboutMyUNLV help site for students, faculty or staff.

Use certified web browsers and operating systems

There is a compatibility need between web browsers and web application/operating systems.  Oracle “certifies” certain browsers for specific versions of the application and operating systems .  Certification simply means those are the browsers and operating systems Oracle will guarantee function without error with the application.   

Certified browsers include:

  • Internet Explorer: Release 8, 9, 10*
  • Mozilla FireFox: Release 10
  • Google Chrome: Release 24
  • Safari: Release 5, 6

*For Internet Explorer 10, turn on Compatibility Mode, to ensure your MyUNLV system works properly.  To do so, simply select the Compatibility View Setting from the Tools menu when you are on the MyUNLV website.

Certified operating systems include:

  • Windows 7L 32 and 64 bit
  • Windows 8: 64 bit
  • Windows 2012, 2008 R2, 2008: 64 bit
  • Apple OS 10, 10.5

If you utilize a non-certified browser, it is recommended you update your browser to a certified version.  If you are unable to do so, the MyUNLV system will still function, however, you may encounter errors or settings you may need establish to ensure the system works smoothly.  You may contact the IT Help Desk for assistance upgrading your operating system or browser.

The New Look of MyUNLV

It is unlikely you will be impacted by the minor differences in the style sheet  that governs the look of the MyUNLV pages, however, the screen shot below highlight a few of the differences you may see.

  • Search pages allow for the ability to collapse the search criteria fields.  If you ever arrive at a page where you do not see search fields, simply click the arrow to the left of search criteria and you will see the search fields.
  • The style sheet using a slightly different color scheme, so enjoy the new tangerine scheme!

Notes and assistance

Extensive testing has been done to ensure this upgrade has a positive impact on how students, faculty and staff perform their work in the system.  Please watch notices on the MyUNLV system for the most up-to-date information on the upgrade progress and outages.
