Humana Helps Welcome New UNLV Nursing Students with Stethoscope Gift
Posted: September 13, 2013
National Health Insurer Humana surprised 48 new UNLV nursing students recently with a free Littmann stethoscope for each of them.
Students use stethoscopes throughout their studies and are responsible for having one during all clinical courses and simulation classes. They must purchase stethoscopes, which typically cost more than $100, prior to the start of classes. Dixon W. Keller, who represented Humana during the donation, said the health insurer was thrilled to provide the group of promising new health care professionals with their very first stethoscope.
According to Keller, Humana plans to provide the instrument to new students every semester—donating nearly 150 each year.
