Abstract: 

Ideals on small cardinals are known to exist in forcing extensions
where some large cardinal is collapsed. Conversely, the ideals
themselves imply the existence of inner models for various large
cardinals.  Unfortunately the gap between the large cardinals required
to get the ideals and the large cardinals that the ideals give rise to
is enormous.  I will discuss some techniques in closing this gap just
a tiny bit.
