Founded in 1957, UNLV
is comprised of a 337-acre main campus, Shadow Lane campus, and six
independent parcels (ranging from 60 to 1,000 acres) located in the Las
Vegas Valley. The university
has grown from 13,000 gross square feet of building space to nearly 4
million square feet in 45 years. It
is now classified as a doctoral degree granting institution with more than
23,000 students and more than 700 faculty members.
To compound these growing pains, the campus is essentially
landlocked within one of the nation's fastest growing regions.
This is a critical time
in the evolution of UNLV due to consistent enrollment growth, rapid
physical expansion, and the need to strengthen the physical fabric of the
campus. The UNLV Campus
Master Plan will assess and quantify the campus' ability to accommodate
physical expansion and provide a flexible "blueprint" to guide this
growth in a consistent and harmonious manner that supports institutional
goals. Follow
