Ultraviolet radiation (UV)
Refers
to invisible radiant energy with the wavelength range of 0.001 to 0.38
microns. UV can damage human skin and cause melanoma and other types of skin
cancer. UV that reaches the surface of the Earth consists of two types of
rays: UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are less likely than UVB rays to cause
sunburn, however UVA rays pass deeper into the skin.
