UNLV "Official" and "Information"
EMail List Policy

Introduction

UNLV maintains two distinct electronic mail lists for campus communication:

1) the UNLV Official Electronic Mail list

2) the UNLV Information Electronic Mail list

The purpose of each list, the policies regarding the lists and the procedures for accessing and using the lists are described below.

Downloadable copies of the instructions for use of the lists are available in PDF and Word format. If you cannot download these documents by clicking on the links, "right click" (PC) or "click and hold" (Mac) on the links and choose "Save this link as..."

 

UNLV Official Electronic Mail

The UNLV Official Electronic Mail list is used to disseminate information that the entire campus needs to receive.

Subscription to the UNLV Official Electronic Mail list is automatic and occurs at the time an electronic mail account is established.

Usage

Messages to be distributed via the UNLV Official Electronic Mail list are sent to the appropriate designee where they are screened for appropriateness for the list and disseminated.

Designees from the following areas have been appointed:

UNLV Information Electronic Mail

The UNLV Information Electronic Mail list is a valuable communication tool that provides timely and effective communication across the campus. The list is used to disseminate information about activities and events that may be of interest to the entire campus.

Subscription to the UNLV Information Electronic Mail list is automatic and occurs at the time an electronic mail account is established. Individuals who wish to be removed from the list should refer to the instructions for unsubscribing found below.

The UNLV Information Electronic Mail address is unlvinformation@ccmail.nevada.edu.

Usage

Messages to be distributed via the UNLV Information Electronic Mail list are sent to a mailbox monitored by UNLV News and Public Information using the guidelines described below.

Messages are permitted on the UNLV Information Electronic Mail list when content:

Messages that satisfy the content requirements listed above shall be subject to the following restriction:

 

Subscribing to and Unsubscribing from UNLV Information

"Subscribe" means to become a member of the UNLV Information mailing list. To subscribe to UNLV Information, send an email with the word "subscribe" in the subject line to UNLV Information if you are a NotesMail user, or unlvinformation@ccmail.nevada.edu for internet mail. New employees are automatically subscribed to this list upon the creation of their email accounts.

NOTE: When you subscribe, your email address is stored in the membership list. If you have more than one email account, send the subscribe email from whichever account you wish to receive the UNLV Information mailings.

"Unsubscribe" means to remove yourself as a member of the UNLV Information mailing list. To unsubscribe from UNLV Information, send an email with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line to UNLV Information if you are a NotesMail user, or unlvinformation@ccmail.nevada.edu for internet mail.

NOTE: A one-day delay is imposed to process an unsubscribe request, meaning that requests to unsubscribe will be processed the day after they are received. During this day you may continue to receive messages from the UNLV Information mailing list.
