Did You Know?

Did you know about the Learning Modules tool in Vista?

Ever use the content module in WebCT Campus Edition and wish you could include links to assignments or other items in your WebCT Course? You now have the ability to do so with the Learning Module tool in Vista. You can add links to content files, assignments, assessments and other WebCT activities.

Did you know you are not restricted to uploading one file at a time into your WebCampus course?

You now have 3 options for uploading files into WebCampus.
WebDAV: WebDAV is a network folder that allows you to drop and drag files or folders from your computer into your WebCT Vista course(s). If you are using Internet Explorer, the action link next to the File Manager allows you to open a Web Folder so that you can drag and drop folders or files into Vista. If you are using other browsers, you can set up WebDAV manually.

By clicking on Get Files from the file Manager, you can use the My Computer Applet to upload up to 10 files at a time.

If you prefer not to use the My Computer applet, you are still able to browse for files individually with the added option of browsing for up to 7 files to upload at a time.

Did you know about the new features of the mail tool in Vista?

  • Carbon copy cc and blind copy bcc options
  • Ability to flag a message as high priority – notifying recipients of it’s urgency
  • You can send messages to individuals in your course by role. You no longer have to select each student’s name to send a message to the entire class
  • You can sort your mail view by subject, author, or date by clicking on the heading titles in the mailbox view.

Did you know about the new question types that are available for your assessments (quiz, survey, and self tests)?

  • Combination
A combination question requires students to choose a correct answer combination from a list of possible answers.
  • Fill in the Blank
A fill in the blank question required Students to enter missing text. A textbox will appear within a sentence/statement in which a student must enter the correct answer.
Example: Albert Einstein was born on March 14 in the year _______. His birthplace was ________.
  • Jumbled Sentence
A jumbled sentence question requires Students to select text that is missing from a sentence and put the text in the correct order. This question type can be useful for language classes because you can provide sentences for Students to translate.
Example: Translate the sentence I love to travel to Europe with friends into French: J'[aime] [voyager] [en] [Europe] [avec] [des] [amis].
The text that is in square brackets will be presented to Students in random order and as pull down options. To translate the sentence correctly, Students must select the words in the correct order.
  • True/False
In WebCT CE, you had to use the question type multiple choice if you wanted to create a True/False question. WebCampus (Vista) has added a true/false question type to make creating the question much easier.
