WebCT Faculty Tip Sheets

Student Tips

Student Tips allows you to write tips for students on topics such as using WebCT. These tips display randomly each time a student logs onto your course. Students can control whether or not they see the Student Tip of the Day by enabling/disabling Student Tips. Students can use Student Tips only if you have added it to your course.

  2. In the Communication Tools column, click Student Tips. The Add Student Tips screen appears.
  3. In the Enter a title for this item text box, enter the title as you want it to appear below the icon.

To create a student tips file:

You can create a text or HTML Student Tips file, upload it to your My-Files folder using Manage Files, and then import it into Student Tips. There is no limit to the number of tips you can add. Note: Save all text files with a .txt extension.

Here's an example of text for two student tips:

:TITLE:Mail and Bulletin Board Icons
Mail and Bulletin Board Icons look different for a number of reasons that I won't explain here. Just be aware.
:TITLE:Password
You should change your password regularly to protect your information.

The text immediately after :TITLE: is the title of the tip. The lines after :TITLE: are the body of the tip, which continue until the next tip :TITLE:.
