Manage Mail Message Settings

To forward messages to an external email account:

As you receive WebCT mail messages, they can be forwarded to an external email account. Note: You will not be able to reply from your external email account back into WebCT. You will have to log into WebCT to reply to the email.

  1. Click the Mail icon. The Mail screen appears.
  2. Click Message settings. The Message Settings screen appears

  3. Under Mail Forwarding, in the Forward my mail to text box, enter the external email address.


  4. Click Update. All WebCT mail messages will now be forwarded, as you receive them, to this external email address.
  5. To return to the Mail screen, click Back.
  6. Note: Forwarded messages will appear in your extermal e-mail from the address "WebCT@courseID.WebCT.Course". The content of the message will indicate the sender's WebCT ID & your course title.

To set the number of threads to display per page:

  1. Click the Mail icon. The Mail screen appears.
  2. From the Folder table, click Message Settings. The Message Settings screen appears.
  3. Under Threads per page, make your selection:
    • To specify a set number of threads per page, select Display (text box) threads per page, and enter a number in the text box.
    • To display all messages on the same page, select Display all threads at once.
  4. Click Update. A message appears to confirm that the settings are updated.
  5. To return to the Mail screen, click Back.

To set the length of subject displayed:

You can specify how much of the message's subject is displayed in the Mail Messages table.

  1. Click the Mail icon. The Mail screen appears.
  2. From the Folder table, click Message Settings. The Message Settings screen appears.
  3. Under Length of subject, make your selection:
    • To specify a limit to the number of characters displayed, select Display first (text box) characters of subject, and enter a number in the text box.
    • To display the full subject, regardless of its length, select Display whole subject.
  4. Click Update. A message appears to confirm that the settings are updated.
  5. To return to the Mail screen, click Back
