Uploading/Importing Your Excel Gradebook

To upload your gradebook from Excel into WebCT:

  1. Save the modified Excel workbook as a comma delimited file (.csv).
  2. Log into WebCT and your course.
  3. Click Control Panel.
  4. Click Manage Course.
  5. Click Manage Students.
  6. Under Actions, from the Options: Records drop-down list, select Add/Import students and click Go. The Add Students screen appears.

  7. Under Import from File:
    1. Click Browse. The WebCT Browser appears.
    2. Upload the file to the My-Files folder and click Add selected. The Add Students screen appears.
  8. Under Import from File, from the Separator drop-down list, select the field separator used in your text file. Make sure that Comma is the selected Separator.

  9. Click Import.
  10. WebCT will detect a new column and ask you what you would like to do with it. Select Create New. Click Continue.
  11. Select Numeric or Alphanumeric as the type. Click Continue.

*You do not need to import all columns each time you import student data. You can delete the columns from your spreadsheet that have already been added to WebCT and have no changes. Just be sure to keep the User ID column.
