Student Enrolled vs. Development Courses

Student-Enrolled Courses

Development Courses

When created?

2 weeks before the start of the semester

For summer – all session courses are created 2 weeks before the start of Session 1

Courses will appear in MyWebCT under semester heading as ENG 100 001

Upon the request of the faculty (via Service Request Form)

Courses will appear in MyWebCT under heading “Development Courses” as ENG100LastName

When deleted?

Will be removed from the server at the end of the next semester.

Fall Courses – Deleted at the end of Spring

Spring Courses – Deleted at the end of Summer

Summer Courses – Deleted at the end of Fall

Faculty members are responsible for backing up their courses and saving it on their computers.

Only at the request of faculty

Student access?

Yes – 2 weeks before the start of the semester

or

If students add the course after the automated creation – enrollment in WebCT course is updated every morning based on registration information. Students should have access to courses within 24 hours of registration.

No students are populated into development courses.

Only faculty member's fake student account can be found in this course.

(Once your course is ready to go and your student enrolled course is available, you can back up your development course and restore an entire copy of the course into your student enrolled site. See our Backup and Restore Tip Sheet.)
