Compile

Content Compiler allows you, your students, and your teaching assistants to create a custom collection of course notes from the topics in a content module. After compiling the notes, you can view them on screen, save them to a file on your computer, or print them from your browser.

To add the Compile tool to your course:

  1. From the Control Panel, select Add Page or Tool.
  2. In the Content Utilities column, click Compile. The Add Compile screen appears.
  3. In the Enter a title for this item text box, enter the title as you want it to appear below the icon.
  4. Under Decide where to show the link to this item, select where you want the link to be displayed.
  5. Click Add. The Compile tool is added to your course.

To compile notes:

  1. Click the Compile icon. The Content Compiler screen appears.
  2. In the Content Compiler table, locate the content module you want to compile, and click List pages.
  3. Select the pages of notes you want to compile:
    • If you want to compile all pages, click Select All.
    • If you want to clear all selected pages and start again, click Select None.
    • If you want to compile a random assortment of pages, click the checkboxes next to those pages.
  4. Click Finish Compile. A new browser window appears that contains the compiled notes.

  5. You can either:
    • Print the compiled notes. Use the print option in your browser.
    • Save the compiled notes. Use the save file option in your browser. Note that the file will save as a .txt file.
    • View the compiled notes in your browser.
  6. To return to the Content Compiler screen, close the browser window.
