Course Functions - Backups

NEW: In WebCT Campus Edition 4.1 course backups and restores can be performed from your MyWebCT Page

Step 1:
Go to your MyWebCT page and click on Course functions.

Step 2: Select one of the options listed below:


Option 1: Create Backups

  1. Select the course(s) you would like to backup and click Create backups button.


  2. Enter a short description for each of your backups.
  3. Click Create.

  4. To return to your course listing from this point, click on the MyWebCT link

Option 2: Upload backup

To upload a backup file that has been saved on your computer:

  1. Select a course and click Upload backup button.


  2. Click Browse... to upload the backup file.


  3. Locate and select the backup file on your computer.



  4. Click Upload.
    This will take a few minutes, depending on the size of the backup file.

  5. Click Continue when done.
  6. To return to your course listing from this point, click on the MyWebCT link.

Option 3: Restore backup

To restore a backup file in other course(s):

  1. Select the backup file and click on Restore backup button.


  2. Select the course(s) you would like to restore your backup into and click Keep users button

  3. A Warning window will appear. To continue, Click OK.

    Let the progress bar run until complete and do NOT interrupt this process or it will corrupt your course(s)
    .

  4. A success message will appear when the restore is complete. Click Continue.


  5. To return to your course listing from this point, click on the MyWebCT link.


Option 4: Delete backups

To Delete any backup files:

  1. Select them from the left and click on Delete backups button.


  2. Click OK if you are sure you want to delete the files.
  3. To return to your course listing from this point, click on the MyWebCT link


Option 5: Download backup

It is recommended that you download and save a copy of your backup file(s)on your computer or to a disk. To do this:

  1. Select the backup file and click Download backup button.


  2. Click Save or Save As..


  3. Select where on your computer/disk you would like to save the back up file (example: Desktop) and Click Save


  4. To return to your MyWebCT page, click on the MyWebCT link.
