Transfer Students Arriving in Fall

As a transfer student you have a number of ways to complete your mandatory advising. Note that we offer online or telephone advising sessions for students outside Nevada.

It is important to remember that if you wish to meet personally with an advisor, you must call for an appointment before you come to the OSA; to be sure an advisor is available and properly prepared to meet with you.

Before you connect with an advisor:

  • Review all materials provided below.
  • Prepare yourself for your advising session:
  • Review your Program Worksheet
Any college level courses that you have completed must be submitted to the Admissions Office on an official transcript. These courses will be evaluated on your official degree worksheet and sent to you separately, along with a copy of our transfer policy.

In the meantime, we recommend that you review your program worksheet to see what classes you will need to take in order to graduate. Hint: Once you click on your major, be sure to select the most recent catalog year to be sure you are looking at the correct worksheet.

Ways to be Advised

Online Advising Session
The Online Advising Session does not require an appointment and can be done at your convenience. Once you complete the session, an advisor will contact you by email to discuss your options and answer your questions. Be sure to have a copy of your program’s worksheet in front of you before accessing the online
session.

Telephone Advising Session (Must make appointment in advance)
Call the OSA to make an appointment with one of our advisors. You will be given a time and date to speak to an academic advisor on the phone about your degree requirements. The advisor will help you select classes for your first semester and answer any questions you might have. Be sure to have a copy of your program’s worksheet in front of you before accessing the online session.

One-on-One Session (Must make appointment in advance)
Call the OSA to make an appointment to meet individually with an academic advisor in the Office for Student Advising located in Beam Hall, Room 543. During the appointment you will receive the required academic advising and assistance in selecting classes for your first semester.
