James Stover, APR
Account Manager, MassMedia Corporate Communications
As Account Manager at MassMedia, JamesStover oversees multiple corporate account teams and projects in the consumer products & services, corporate communications, healthcare, and real estate practices. With both private and public sector experience in communications and outreach, Stover possesses a multi-cultural awareness for effectively interacting among diverse publics with sensitivity and diplomacy. Stover has routinely managed multiple ongoing projects and concerns while responding to new and unexpected issues, and has served as a liaison for international, national, state, and local- level individuals and delegations.
Prior to joining MassMedia, Stover worked in both the private and public sector. He served as consumer outreach director for the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, where he planned, created, and managed statewide consumer outreach and related communication activities while mediating public and media inquiries, consumer complaints, and providing organizational counsel in how best to respond to various issues.
As public involvement manager at Battelle Memorial Institute, Stover worked on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration, Nevada Site Office, where he developed and implemented effective programs to promote stakeholder awareness and involvement regarding the environmental management program taking place at the Nevada National Security Site.
Stover provided public relations planning and strategy and was spokesperson and primary contact for all news media while serving as public affairs manager for the city of Yuma, Arizona. While there, he responded to international, national, state, and local media and public inquiries in the aftermath of a Marine Corps Air Station Yuma Harrier jet crash.
Stover’ early career work includes extensive writing experience as senior writer for the Saratoga Business Journal, and senior producer at WFFF-TV FOX 44. His video work has been recognized by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association, the New York Broadcasters Association, and the Vermont Association of Broadcasters.
Stover graduated from the State University of New York Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. He is active in leadership of the Public Relations Society of America Las Vegas Valley Chapter, currently serving as chapter president, and is one of a handful of agency professionals who have earned an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). He volunteers his time with several nonprofit organizations in the Las Vegas community, including the Las Vegas Rescue Mission and the Las Vegas Strip Kiwanis.
