Top 10 Contestants

“Painting the Rebel” At Window Decoration Competition

  • Contestants must arrive at the Window Decoration Contest on Monday, Nov. 2 by 11:30 a.m. You must come decked out in UNLV gear. Points will be awarded based on original dress. Please report to the REB table where you will meet with our MSR chair.
  • Each contestant must complete a drawing of Hey Reb on an assigned window. Materials will be provided. Points will be awarded based on accuracy, creativity and enthusiasm.

“Singing the Fight Song” At RebelFest

  • Contestants must arrive at the RebelFest on Tuesday, Nov. 3 by 12:45 p.m. You must come decked out in UNLV gear. Points will be awarded based on original dress. Please report to the REB table.
  • Each contestant must sing the UNLV Fight Song. Points will be awarded based on accuracy, creativity and enthusiasm.

“Project Runway: Rebel Edition” At Rebel Game Show

  • Contestants must arrive at the RebelFest on Tuesday, Nov. 3 by 6:00 p.m. You must come decked out in UNLV gear. Points will be awarded based on original dress. Please report to the REB table.
  • Contestants will have 30 minutes to be made over into a TV Character by their teammates. The contestant will then have to run to the Student Union Room 208 where they will model their costume in front of judges. Only the first 3 contestants who make it to the Student Union Courtyard will have the chance to be judged. The winner will earn 20 points. 
    • One Most Spirited Rebel competitor will be cut at the end of this round.
  • Six contestants will continue on to the next round based on the scores for the application; original UNLV spirited dress; the most accurate, creative and spirited drawings; and the most accurate, creative and spirited rendition of the UNLV Fight Song, and their scores from the Project Runway competition.
  • The contestants with the lowest scores at this point will be dropped from the competition, but are highly encouraged to attend the remaining events of the competition.

Top 6 Contestants

“Ask the Rebel” At Rebel Variety Show

  • TBD: The remaining 6 contestants are required to attend this event. You must arrive at the Student Union Ballroom for the Rebel Variety Show Final Rehearsal at TBD for a run through of your duties. You do not have to come dressed in your spirited attire for the practice.
  • Please arrive by 6:30 p.m. dressed in spirited UNLV gear. Creativity and originality will count! The audience will help choose the winner by votes, so try to make a rebelious impression! 
  • Every contestant will be asked a series of UNLV trivia questions (3) before performing an original spirited cheer. All contestants will sing the fight song together. Points will be awarded based on the number of questions answered correctly, originality, and enthusiasm!

Dance Like a Rebel

  • After the round of questions, pairs will then continue and participate in dance off. 30 points will be awarded based on participation. Additional points will be awarded based on the audience.
  • Each member of the audience that checks in as they enter the Rebel Variety Show will receive on ticket. This ticket is to be kept throughout the Rebel Variety Show. At the end of the show, each member of the audience can vote for their favorite Most Spirited Rebel contestant by depositing their ticket into their favorite contestant’s box.
  • The votes of the Rebel Variety Show judges for “Ask the Rebel” and “Dance like a Rebel”, votes from the Rebel Variety Show audience, and all points accumulated before this event will be tallied and the top four contestants will move on to the next round at Comedy Night.
  • The contestants with the lowest scores at this point will be dropped from the competition, but are highly encouraged to attend the remaining events of the competition.

Top 4 Contestants

“Search for the MSR Baton” At Town Square

  • Contestants are required to be at Town Square at 2:30 p.m. to search for the MSR Baton. Please report to the Most Spirited Rebel Committee Chair at Town Square at Parade check in. Original dress is not required but is recommended.
  • The final contestants will participate in a spirited search to locate the Most Spirited Rebel Baton that has been hidden somewhere at Town Square. All competitors are required to complete the task given to them at each checkpoint in order to receive full points. Contestants are not to enter the stores to complete the tasks.
  • Final scores will be calculated at the end of this event and the Most Spirited Rebel will be revealed and presented with the “Rebel Baton”, which is the highest Rebel Spirit award on campus. The winner is required to lead the parade and attend the rally at Town Square as well as attend and participate in the Homecoming football pre-game activities.

MSR Winner

  • At 5:30 p.m., the winner will arrive at (Location - TBD). Please report to the Most Spirited Rebel Committee Chair at the Rebel Events Board check-in table located in the West Lot parking lot near Guitar Center. The winner will lead the Homecoming Parade with the “Rebel Baton” in hand! The parade will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. The Most Spirited Rebel will also be on stage for the rally that follows the parade.
  • The Most Spirited Rebel will be required to attend the UNLV Football Game and Halftime Show. On game day, in the past, the winner was expected to participate in the following events:
    • Pre-game interview on the field.
    • Run out before the Football team introduction.
    • Accompany the coin toss before kick off.
    • More information about the Halftime Show will be given once the winner is announced at the Homecoming Parade.
