Chapter 1607, Reserve Educational Assistance Program or REAP

If you have never applied for VA education benefits

  • The VA prefers that you complete the VonAPP application on the GI Bill website. The application gives you the opportunity to attach documents. You should attach a copy of your DD-214 showing your longest deployment. If the website will not allow you to attach the file, send the application anyway and make a copy of the confirmation number information. Bring the confirmation number and the DD-214 to UNLV’s Office of Veteran Services. UNLV will fax the copies to the VA. The paper application (form 22-1990) is available on this website under Forms to Process Your Veteran’s Benefits. The paper application should be mailed to the appropriate VA regional processing office. Always keep a copy of the application form for your records.
  • The VA requires you to send an official copy of your military transcript to UNLV for evaluation. Get for an instruction sheet.
  • Bring a copy of your DD-214 Copy 4 (discharge paper) to the UNLV certifying official.
  • A completed UNLV Semester Enrollment Form is required for each semester you want to receive benefits. Form is available on this website under Forms to Process Your Veteran’s Benefits.
  • A copy of your degree sheet. This is available from your academic advisor. The copy given to the certifying official should show all transferred, completed credits. Certification for benefits cannot be done without this information.
  • If you are concurrently enrolled with another school, and want those credits certified, complete the Concurrent Enrollment Form available on this website under Forms to Process Your Veteran’s Benefits.
