As the Editor-in-Chief of the Real Estate Law Journal, I am always interested in receiving quality articles on any real estate subject.  We welcome articles, essays, decisions, or other items of interest to practicing attorneys, investors, academics and other professionals involved in the real estate industry. Please send your submission by mail to my address on the Home page or by e-mail to aalberts@ccmail.nevada.edu in Microsoft Word form.

MANUSCRIPT GUIDELINES/COMMENTS:

1. We welcome the submission of material to be considered for publication, including articles, essays, decisions, or other items of interest to practicing attorneys, investors, and other participants in the real estate industry.

2. Each manuscript should be accompanied by a synopsis consisting of an abstract of the contents.

3. Submit two copies of the manuscript, keeping a third copy for your files. You may submit electronically to aalberts@ccmail.nevada.edu.

4. Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on 8½ x 11” white bond paper. Leave 1-inch margins on all sides of the paper.

5. The average length of an article is about twenty-five typewritten, double-spaced pages. The average length of an essay is from eight to fifteen typewritten double-spaced pages. Deviations from these lengths are acceptable, depending upon content requirements.

6. Footnotes should be typed double-spaced on separate sheets of paper from the text and should appear behind the text of the article or essay, never within or at the bottom of text pages.

7. The first item on the footnote page should be an asterisk followed by the author’s name and brief biographic information. Thereafter the footnotes start with “1” and continue consecutively until the end of the article. Footnotes should begin with a paragraph indent.

8. Footnote citations should conform as nearly as possible to the Harvard Uniform System of Citation, 17th or latest edition.

9. Quotations should also be typed double-spaced. Lengthy quotations should be indented from the left as they will appear in the final printed pages.

10. Use headings and subheadings extensively. Main headings should be typed upper- and lower-case, centered across the pages—do NOT underline. Second subheadings should be typed flush to the left margin—this heading is the ONLY one that should be underlined.

11. Any emendations should be made between the lines of the typescript. That is, typographical errors and slight corrections of the text or footnotes may be written in on the manuscript in pen. If corrections are lengthy or complex, the entire manuscript page should be retyped.

12. If you are reprinting in your article any previously copyrighted material, the publisher must have letters of permission to reprint from the copyright holder and from the author if he is not the copyright holder. These letters should be submitted at the same time as the manuscript.

13. The utmost care will be given to material submitted, although we cannot accept responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts. Send two copies of the manuscript.
