The Greenspun College of Urban Affairs invites you to attend a Scholar Series lecture titled, Why Diversity Matters to White People a conversation with one of the nation's leading experts, Dori J. Maynard, president of the Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education and Alicia "Lisa" Shepard, former NPR ombudsman and current visiting journalism professor in the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at UNLV.
While the number of minorities in the U.S. is growing, too many newsrooms --especially in newspapers --fail to reflect that increase. Why does this matter? What stories aren't getting told? How does this hurt democracy?
This event is free and open to the public.
