University Forum: Puzzling Politics of American JewryWhen: Mar. 24, 2014, 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Campus Location: Marjorie Barrick Museum / Harry Reid Center
Office/Remote Location: Auditorium
Please join the College of Liberal Arts for the University Forum Lecture "The Puzzling Politics of American Jewry," a talk by Kenneth D. Wald, professor, department of political science, University of Florida.
The political liberalism of American Jews is puzzling because it contradicts the notion that economic self-interest drives political behavior. Wald argues that the solution to this puzzle is found in their overriding concern with maintaining their equal citizenship in a society based on classic liberalism. The talk examines the evolution of this sensibility and its manifestation in contemporary political life.
This event is free and open to the public.
