University Forum Lecture: Painting Nuclear Testing

Please join the College of Liberal Arts for the University Forum Lecture "Art and the Historical Image: Painting Nuclear Testing," a talk by Kristian Purcell, artist and curatorial assistant, The Higgins Art Gallery & Museum, Bedford, UK.

Purcell will discuss his paintings based on archive photographs of Nuclear Tests and the process of translating a photograph into a painted image. He will also examine what contemporary painting can add to the understanding of a subject and how it can question the nature of our recorded histories.
