Join the College of Liberal Arts in the University Forum Lecture "A History of Architecture in 60 Minutes: Great Cultural Shifts of Western Civilization and their Impact on Architecture" a talk by Janet R. White, assistant professor, School of Architecture, UNLV.
The physical environment embodies the intersection between culture and built form. Shifts in culture are reflected in the built form a society produces. Tonight’s talk presents nine great cultural shifts of Western civilization and discusses the architectural forms associated with each through examination of an iconic building of the period. The talk will be illustrated by multiple images of the buildings. The goal of this talk is to increase awareness of architecture in general and to underline the role of architecture in both defining and reflecting the values of a society.
This event is free and open to the public.
