Join the College of Liberal Arts in the University Forum Lecture "Defending Pornography as Art and Popular Culture: The Expert Witness in the Court Case United States v. John Stagliano" a talk by Constance Penley, professor, Department of Film and Media Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara.
Proffered expert witness in the federal obscenity trial of adult filmmaker John Stagliano, film and media scholar Dr. Constance Penley discusses the alternate universe that is the world of obscenity law, a universe where everything we think about art and culture is turned upside down and inside out. In this talk, Dr. Penley discusses how she negotiated defending several (porn films) as a feminist art practice.
