Public Lecture: Black Holes Dark Matter, Dark Energy

The UNLV Department of Physics and Astronomy presents the Russell Frank Astronomy Lecture titled, "Exploring the Dark Side of the Universe: Black Holes, Dark Matter and Dark Energy" by Professor Karl Gebhardt from the University of Texas at Austin. Gebhardt will discuss three key findings in astronomy. A new force of nature, dark energy, is causing the expansion of the universe to speed up. The nature of dark matter that dominates mass around galaxies is unknown. Black holes are thought to exist in all galaxies, yet we do not understand how they form and interact with galaxies.
This talk is intended for a general audience including enthusiasts of all backgrounds and ages.
