Description

Las Vegas African American Experience Website Launch

African Americans have made Las Vegas home since the turn of the 20th century. Their contributions have enriched Southern Nevada and continue to pave the way for future generations. Members of the local black community and African American organizations, in partnership with the African American Collaborative, joined to collect and preserve this rich history -- and to make it accessible to everyone through a website portal.

The "Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas" website will be officially launched on January 24.

Be part of this historic moment, and be among the first to view the “Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas” website, an online portal  that tells the story of the local black community through their own voices and images, spanning many generations.

Participate in a lively discussion as we share stories and relive history.

See a special exhibit of historical photographs and artifacts about the indelible imprint black men and women have left on our city.

The Documenting the African American Experience in Las Vegas project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
