Description

The Brookings Mountain West invites you to attend a lecture titled, France and Europe after November 13, 2015, by Philippe Le Corre, fellow, Foreign Policy.

In the two and one half months after the Paris attacks, the worst ever staged in the French capital since World War II, France has reacted strongly by enhancing counter-terrorism actions and striking Daesh in Syria. Meanwhile, the people of Europe –who for the past year have been dealing with economic issues as well as the refugee crisis - are learning how to deal with a permanent terrorist risk in their daily lives. Almost all of them have now integrated terrorism as part of their daily routine, and are getting ready for a long, difficult fight involving defense efforts, intelligence and social cohesion. This lecture will explore how various nations and Europe as a whole, are meeting this challenge.
