Documentary Screening and Discussion on "The Invisible War"When: Apr. 23, 2013, 6pm - 8pm
Campus Location: Student Union
Office/Remote Location: Theater
The Jean Nidetch Women’s Center presents the screening of The Invisible War, a documentary film by Kirby Dick and Amy Zierig.
A groundbreaking investigation into what Newsweek has called, "The most underreported crime in America."
Today a female soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. Premiering at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the esteemed Audience Award, The Invisible War reveals the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military—and exposes the humiliating choice many service members are forced to make between speaking up and serving their country. Nonpartisan and fair minded, The Invisible War exposes these devastating crimes and acts as a catalyst for long overdue political and cultural change.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion
This screening and discussion are free and open to the public.
