The Southern Nevada Local Section of the American Chemical Society will have a seminar featuring recent UNLV Ph.D. chemistry graduate Van Vo. Her talk is titled, "Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Platinum (II) and Platinum (IV) Complexes Containing 4,4'-Distributed-2,2'-bipyridine Ligands for the Treatment of Cancer."
Vo also received her bacherlor's and master's degrees in biochemistry from UNLV. She is the first author/co-author of six refereed articles on cancer research and contibuted several oral/poster presentations in various national and international conferences, including the 6th International Conference on Drug Discovery and Therapy in Dubai, UAE. In April, Vo was granted her first U.S. patent as part of a cancer research team at UNLV, and recently submitted a second provisional patent application.
