Mezzo soprano, Juline Barol-Gilmore, has performed operatic roles with Opera Omaha, Central City Opera, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Des Moines Metro Opera, Dona Ana Lyric Opera, and UNLV Opera Theater. Roles include the title role in Carmen, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Nancy in Albert Herring, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, La Principessa in Suor Angelica, and several musical theater roles including Nellie in South Pacific, Guenevere in Camelot, and Aldonza in Man of La Mancha. As a performer of contemporary opera, Ms. Barol-Gilmore appeared as Lena in the world premiere of Libby Larsen’s Eric Hermannson’s Soul in 1998, and debuted the title role of Randall Shinn’s Sara McKinnon on a libretto by Tony award winning playwright and director, Mark Medoff, with the Dona Ana Lyric Opera in New Mexico in 2001 . She debuted the role of Catherine Wright in Daron Hagen’s Shining Brow with the Southern Nevada Opera Association in 2002, and performs frequently for Opera Las Vegas.

As a frequent concert artist, Ms. Barol-Gilmore has performed with the Las Vegas Music Festival, Omaha Symphony, Las Vegas Desert Chorale, Performing Arts Society of Nevada, Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, and the Southwest Symphony in works of Mozart, Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Brahms. As a chamber music recitalist, she has performed Libby Larsen’s Beloved Thou Hast Brought Me Many Flowers for UNLV’s “Words, Women, and Song” concert, Virko Baley’s Klytemnestra for the 2004 Las Vegas Music Festival, and the Brahms’ Alto Rhapsodie, in Germany and Las Vegas. She has also performed song recitals in Kansas City, MO, Central City, CO, Omaha, NE, and Las Vegas, NV.

Awards include national runner-up of the 2004 NATSAA Recital Competition, the Richard F. Gold Career Grant in 1997, the 1996 Central City Opera Studio Artist of the Year, runner-up of the Oklahoma Steward Awards in 1995, and five-time first place winner of the New Mexico NATS State Competitions from 1989-1993. Young Artist programs include two seasons with Opera Omaha’s Heartland Opera Theater, and summers with Opera Theater of St. Louis and Central City Opera.

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ms. Barol-Gilmore graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance, and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory. While maintaining a private voice studio in Henderson, Nevada, Ms. Barol-Gilmore currently teaches diction and private voice at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she is also pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance.
