Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week teams up UNLV and community partners for a week of advocacy and events teaching about hunger and homelessness in Las Vegas and beyond.

Institute for Security Studies

The Institute for Security Studies is the core of the university’s homeland security and counterterrorism education, research, and policy analysis activities.

The institute is composed of highly skilled engineers, scientists, and trainers. They offer state-of-the-art training programs and develop engineering solutions to address national security-related challenges.
ISS also brings subject matter expertise, project management experience, research skills, and outreach capabilities to the realms of law enforcement, emergency management, and energy security.

International Baccalaureate Scholar Achievement Dinner

International Baccalaureate students are recognized for their academic achievements at the acheivement dinner. The students and their parents meet with the president, deans, faculty members and advisors from UNLV. 

International Student Teaching Program

International Student Teaching Program offers opportunities to student teach abroad. Over the past 10 years, the College of Education program has placed students in England, France, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Programs are available throughout the year. Academic credits earned in in the programs are part of regular course offerings.

Junior Night

UNLV and the College of Sciences in collaboration with CCSD invite the most competitive and highest GPA juniors to come to campus for a tour, meet with faculty and showcase our programs.

 

Just Voices

Just Voices brings world-class writers to local schools to share their stories and interact with students. The program addresses challenges of teaching writing by provoking interest in literature and increasing the motivation to write. This curriculum helps students find their own voices as writers and demonstrates that effective writing skills are a powerful tool for making a positive impact on the world.

The Southern Nevada Writing Project (SNWP) joins with the Nevada Partners in Inclusive Education, UNLV's English department, and the Regional Professional Development Center to offer this innovative program for CCSD high school teachers and students.

Las Vegas Women Oral History Project

Working with community partners in business, politics, and the nonprofit sector, the Las Vegas Women Oral History Project relies on community members to share their life stories, thereby enriching the teaching of Las Vegas history.

The project evolved from a collaboration to collect sources on the lives of Las Vegas women. At the time it began (circa 1994), a critical shortage of information on women’s lives existed in traditional repositories and few oral history projects collected the narratives of women.

Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center

The Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center fosters the learning, growth, and development of children with its modern facilities. 

The center, home of the UNLV/CSUN Preschool, is administered by the department of special education. Approximately 220 children of students, faculty, staff, and the Southern Nevada community attend the preschool.

Make a Difference Day

UNLV partners with the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada on various projects during the nationwide event. The day is meant to empower millions of Americans to unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others.

Math and Science Education Excellence Award

The College of Sciences awards an individual who exhibits outstanding educational activities in area education.
