Santa Clothes

The annual program for disadvantaged youth, sponsored by the Las Vegas Rotary Club, culminates in a visit to UNLV's campus, a field-day with UNLV's student-athletes, and a motivational speech from one of the Rebel coaches.

Saturday of Service

Service projects are performed biweekly through UNLV's Office of Civic Engagement and Diversity and their community partnerships with Harry Levy Gardens, Get Outdoors Nevada, Easter Seals of Southern Nevada, and U.S. Vets.

Scholar Recognition Dinner

Invited students are honored for their academic achievement and are welcomed into the UNLV family. The dinner gives students and their parents the opportunity to meet the president, and interact with deans, faculty members and advisors from UNLV.

School of Life Sciences and Department of Mathematics Tutoring Centers

The tutoring centers serve all students enrolled in MATH or BIOL courses, but are specifically designed to aid students identified as ‘at risk’ through either pre-test or mid-semester grade reports.    

SCI 108: Developmental Mathematical Logic

Developmental Mathematical Logic is designed to aid students who are identified as ‘at risk’ in their mathematical skills. The course, presented by the College of Sciences and the Department of Mathematics, is not a remedial course but rather a course designed to teach students to learn math – the logic behind what they are doing and how it is applied.

Senior Night

UNLV and the College of Sciences in collaboration with CCSD invite the most competitive and highest GPA seniors to come to campus for a tour, meet with faculty and showcase our programs.  

Service Learning Forums

The Service Learning Forums connects faculty, staff, students and community partners in an effort to network and create service learning opportunities.

Southern Nevada Writing Project

The SNWP offers a number of professional development opportunities aimed at improving the teaching of writing. Programs for teachers include invitational summer institutes; mini-conferences; professional development workshops such as engaging ELL students through writing, action research, using literature to teach the writing traits, etc.); and support for teachers, youth and families. SNWP is part of the National Writing Project.

Strategy Instruction Model (SIM)

The UNLV Special Education department offers workshops for Clark County school district personnel on the Strategy Instruction Model. District teachers and administrators can request instruction on specific strategies based on the needs at the school and/or regional level. Workshops are guided by professional development faculty and doctorial students in the UNLV Special Education department and have been conducted with an entire school faculty and in groups of teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools.

Summer Term

Summer Term offers academic credit courses for admitted and non-admitted students during three sessions during the 13-week period between the spring and fall semesters.
