Event Schedule
Welcome to the UNLV Commencement website. The Spring 2013 Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 19 in the Thomas & Mack Center. There will be two separate ceremonies, one at 9 a.m., and one at 2 p.m.
9 a.m. Ceremony
Graduate College (Master's and Doctoral Students from the colleges listed here), William S. Boyd School of Law, College of Fine Arts, School of Allied Health Science, School of Community Health Sciences, School of Nursing, College of Liberal Arts, College of Sciences, Greenspun College of Urban Affairs.
2 p.m. Ceremony
Graduate College (Master's and Doctoral Students from the colleges listed here), School of Dental Medicine, Lee Business School, College of Education, Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering, William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.
Undergraduates and Master’s Candidates
Please report in your cap and gown to the Cox Pavilion Arena (Upstairs) one hour prior to the ceremony and line up behind the appropriate banner.
Doctoral and Professional Students
All students receiving doctoral degrees and professional degrees should meet in the Cox Pavilion Tunnel (downstairs) and line up behind the appropriate banner. Doctoral Candidates will line up in the Cox Pavilion Tunnel.
Each graduate must wear a cap and gown. Those receiving master's and educational specialist's degrees will wear their hoods. Doctoral and Juris Doctorate candidates will carry their hoods over their right arms. Each graduate, except Doctoral and Juris Doctorate candidates, must wear the scarlet and gray tassel sold at the UNLV Bookstore. Even if the cap and gown is borrowed or purchased elsewhere, the scarlet and gray tassels must be purchased at the bookstore. Doctoral candidates wear a gray tassel and Juris Doctorate candidates wear a gold tassel. Tassels are worn on the right; upon direction from the podium, the tassel is moved to the left.
Name Cards
Name cards will be given to each graduate at the time of tassel purchase. Graduates must bring this card to commencement to hand to the name reader on stage. If the card is lost, students may obtain a replacement at the assembly area on the day of commencement.
Before Graduation
All graduates must provide notification that they plan to attend commencement. A form will be given to every student at the time of tassel purchase; this form should be completed and left at the bookstore. Any prospective graduate who fails to complete a form at the bookstore should contact the Graduation Office at 702-895-3123 or 702-895-3685 to ensure a seat is reserved.
