Dr. Cloud passed away on Christmas Eve. A service in memory of Dr. Cloud was held Wednesday, January 6, at 11 am in the UNLV Foundation Building. Please join with us in extending condolences to Barbara's husband, Dr. Stanley Cloud. Julie Meyer Murray, a 1984 JMS graduate, was named Alumna of the Year for the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. She was honored together with alumni from other colleges at a ceremony on October 16 in the Tam Alumni Building. Murray, who also received a master’s degree from JMS in 1994, is the president and chief executive officer for the Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas. She is also the co-founder and co-sponsor of the Las Vegas “I Have a Dream” Foundation and serves on the organization’s board. She is former national campaign director for the Andre Agassi Foundation and was instrumental in the formation of the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy. As co-chair with Nevada Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley, she helped create in Las Vegas the country’s first senior citizens’ assisted living, affordable housing site. She has received awards such as “The Most Influential Woman in Nevada” and “Who’s Who of Nevada.” The Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies is sad to report the passing this year of long-time faculty member Stephen F. Nielsen and JMS Graduate and former Rebel Yell editor Mike Zigler. More info:
