Visiting the Center/Using the Collection

As part of UNLV Special Collections, the Center is open to anyone--you do not need to be a UNLV student, Nevada resident, or American citizen to read books and journals from the collections.

Since the materials in Special Collections do not circulate, there is no need for a UNLV library card.

Collection hours

UNLV Special Collections is open:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9AM to 5PM

Tuesday, Thursday: 9AM to 9PM

Call 702-895-2234 for hours on holidays and during intersession.

Directions

The Center is located within UNLV Special Collections, which is on the third floor of Lied Library.

From the Las Vegas Strip, take LV Boulevard (the Strip) to Harmon, and head east. Lied Library is located on the right just where Harmon dead-ends into campus.

From the 215/McCarran Airport, take the airport bypass to Swenson Street, take a right on Harmon, and head east. Lied Library is located on the right just where Harmon dead-ends into campus.

From I-15, take the "Tropicana East" exit, cross the Strip, and make a left on Swenson (where you see the Thomas and Mack Center). Take a right on Harmon, and head east. Lied Library is located on the right just where Harmon dead-ends into campus.

From the 95, take the Flamingo Exit and head west (right) for about three miles. Make a left on Swenson, then a left on Harmon, and head east. Lied Library is located on the right just where Harmon dead-ends into campus.

Parking

Metered parking, which costs 75 cents per hour, is available in various lots throughout campus.

Daily and weekly parking passes may be purchased from the Parking Services Office in the Claude I. Howard Building, which is on Harmon slightly west of Lied Library.
