STRUCTURE OF CUP Consistent with its overall mission, the specific objectives and goals of the Center’s activities encompass basic and applied research in five core areas: • Program Development: to develop, implement, and evaluate research-based programs, interventions, and initiatives that assist community-based organizations, businesses, and government agencies who serve a primarily urban and diverse populations; • Program Evaluation: to provide methodological expertise, statistical and analytic support, as well as conceptual guidance in the interest of supporting academic and community initiatives that help translate research into effective practice; • Training and Dissemination: to provide university-based and professional training opportunities for students, health professionals, public officials, policy makers, and other community-based service providers, and serve as a local, state, and national clearinghouse for research-based information; • Inter-group Relations: to advance an understanding of environmental,
developmental, cultural, and familial factors that influence inter- and
intra-group relations using programmatic research and community-wide initiatives
that can positively impact the surrounding community, region, and nation; |
