
Timothy C. Hart, Ph.D.
Director
Dr. Timothy C. Hart received his Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of South Florida. His areas of interest include survey research, applied statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), and victimization. Prior to joining the faculty at UNLV, Dr. Hart worked as a Statistician for the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), a Program Analyst for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and a Research Analyst for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO). Dr. Hart is the founder and co-editor of Crime Mapping: A Journal of Research and Practice.

William H. Sousa, Ph.D.

Dr. William H. Sousa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University (2003), his M.S. in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University (1995), and his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Stonehill College (1994). From 2002-2004, Dr. Sousa was the Director of Evaluation for the Police Institute at Rutgers-Newark where he participated in studies related to violence and disorder in New Jersey neighborhoods. His research interests involve police order-maintenance practices, police management, and community crime prevention.

Terance Miethe, Ph.D.
State Data Briefs Project Coordinator
Dr. Terance Miethe received his Ph.D. in sociology from Washington State University in 1982. His areas of interest include criminology, law, deviance, quantitative methodology, and evaluation research. He is the author of several books and articles on violent crime, criminal sanctions, and crime typologies. He has received several awards and research grants and was the recipient of the 2005 Barrick Award for the Outstanding Researcher at UNLV.

Bridget Kelly
Research Assistant (Grant Funded)
Bridget Kelly received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2007. She is currently enrolled in UNLV’s Criminal Justice Master’s program. Her areas of interest include community corrections, reintegration, criminal law, and criminal procedure.

Courtney LaHaie

Courtney LaHaie received a B.A in Criminology, Law and Society and a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine in 2008. She is currently enrolled in UNLV's Criminal Justice Master's program. Her areas of interest include women and crime, juvenile delinquency, quantitative analysis, criminal law and criminal procedure.
