Welcome

I am pleased to announce the launch of "Crime Mapping: A Journal of Research and Practice". Crime Mapping is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high quality manuscripts on the spatial, temporal, and geographical aspects of crime and crime analysis from both a theoretical and an applied perspective. Crime Mapping is published twice a year, in the Spring and the Fall.

I am also pleased to announce the release of our first reports under the new State Data Brief Project. Reports are focus on major issues in criminal justice in Nevada and are written in an easily readable, non-technical style targeted towards the general public, local officials, community organizations, and media outlets. The first 6 reports cover different aspects of entry into the criminal justice system, sentencing and sanctions, and corrections. As more reports become available, they will be posted on the CACS website.

Finally, the Center for the Analysis of Crime Statistics is completing the final stages of the first victimization survey of Nevada residents. This study was funded through a grant from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (2008-BJ-CX-K025). The final report will be published later this Fall.
