INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Over the many years of the Athletic Training Program at UNLV there have been numerous students who have been selected to be part of an internship program with one of the professional sports teams.
In the 2005 year we had three of our undergraduate students selected to participate as interns with professional organizations.
Atsuhiko Takei (Class of 2006) was selected to work with the Texas Rangers major league baseball team for two weeks in March 2005 at their spring training camp in Phoenix, AZ. Atsu was able to spend time in the athletic training facilities at all levels of the Texas Rangers organization. Atsu returned to UNLV with some new ideas and many new contacts in professional baseball.
Kristy Young (Class of 2007) was able to work with the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League during the 2005 season. Kristy was mainly working with the medical staff during the football games as the Gladiators practice was during the mornings when most students are in classes.
Bryan Hart (Class of 2006) was selected to work with the Indianapolis Colts during their rookie and preseason camps starting May and going through August 2005. Bryan worked three different camps with the Colts over the summer, the first two camps lasted 4-5 days and then he worked the full preseason and was able to travel to one preseason game before school started at UNLV.
These are the internships for 2005, in past years we have had students intern with many other professional football, baseball and other sports organizations. We look forward to expanding the opportunities for students to intern in many different locations and organizations.
