Adopt-A-School

  • Homecoming Rally

The Cunningham Colts helped UNLV celebrate homecoming for the fifth year in a row with a spirited rally complete with cheerleaders, the band, students, athletes, and Hey Reb!

  • Petersen’s Rebel Reading Room

The Rebel Reading Room recently was unveiled at Dean Petersen Professional Development School. Students receive their own books to take home and also enjoy stories read aloud by Phi Kappa Phi student volunteers. The room was funded in part by a $2,500 literacy grant awarded by the national honor society of Phi Kappa Phi to its UNLV chapter.

  • Homecoming Game and Tailgate

For the fifth year, top students from UNLV’s five adopted schools were awarded tickets for their families to attend the homecoming football game and tailgate. During halftime, students were recognized on the field for their accomplishments in the classroom.

  • Stuff the Truck Supply Drive

Five trucks stuffed with school supplies donated by the UNLV community were delivered to UNLV’s five adopted schools. The collection and delivery of the supplies were done thanks in part to the Rebel Service Council and CSUN student government, in partnership with the United Way of Southern Nevada.

Welcome

Big dreams. Small packages. It’s an apt description of UNLV’s Adopt-A-School program.

The program rewards youth for excelling academically and provides the UNLV community with an opportunity to mentor and engage at-risk elementary students in the Clark County School District.
